Before you think “Ugh I could never do that!” Let me preface this post by saying this is so so easy and fun to do. You just need a couple rolls of Scotch Masking Tape (or any tape, in any colour you like). I wanted my pattern to be high contrast black and white, and I found the Scotch tape to be the perfect “sticky but not too sticky” product.
This Idea works best on a wall that runs into two perpendicular walls… helps keep the illusion of real wallpaper. Once you decide on you pattern you can begin marking out the spacing on the wall. I spaced my crosses 12” apart on center (this just means the center of one cross is 12” from the center of the next cross). I also spaced the next row 12” above the first…. so on and so forth all the way up the wall.
Before your brain begins to short circuit and smoke after reading that. My goal was to keep this simple and fun…. honestly I eyeballed most of it! With the help of my lovely sister to confirm placement the whole wall took me less than an hour to complete. I love the end result and even fooled a few visitors, Ha!
As a person who’s taste and style is ever changing Im excited to try different shapes and patterns, and if i get sick of it entirely, it peels of the wall as if it was never there…. My land lord never needs to know! ;)
